Track and Field Hosts Varsity Apartments Shocker Quad on Saturday

WICHITA -- The University of Texas at Arlington, Doane College, and Butler County Community College will all take part in the 2010 Varisty Apartments Shocker Quad as the Wichita State University track & field team will host the meet on Saturday, Feb. 6, with field events starting at 9 a.m.

Senior Chris Dickman, the current Missouri Valley Conference Field Athlete of the Week, will look to build on an impressive showing at the Nebraska Multi-Challenge after reaching an NCAA provisional mark of 5,569 points in the heptathlon. Dickman ranks seventh in the nation in the men's heptathlon after last Saturday's record setting finish that put him atop the WSU all-time list.

Sophomore Tyler Simmons will look to also continue to move up the national charts as the Beloit, Kan., native is currently 19th in the men's long jump with an NCAA provisional mark of 24' 10" set at the Varsity Apartments WSU Invitational. Sophomore Cassie Craig is also 19th in the country in the women's pole vault after she reached 13' 1 3/4" at the first home meet of the year while Tish Brown sits 12th in the women's long jump with a provisional mark of 20' 5 3/4".

Admission to the meet is $2, with kids under 12 getting in free. WSU students can also get in free with their Shocker ID card.
